After the death of Friedrich Uhlmann in 1994, his wife Hedwig Uhlmann continued the tradition of the family-owned company. Since 1st April 2007 her son Tobias Uhlmann is the chairman of the Supervisory Board of the Uhlmann Group and is consistently promoting the course set by his parents – to maintain and strengthen market leadership through excellent quality and outstanding innovative strength.

The development of modern pharmaceutical packaging technology began in Laupheim in 1963 with the construction of the world's first thermoformer.

The increasing acceptance of our work means that activities at our headquarters have expanded. After a modest start in our own factory building dating from 1954, the first stage of an administration building took shape in 1979, followed by the second stage in 1988. During subsequent years, a consistent design approach has resulted in our present company headquarters, which has been awarded prizes for its concept, architecture and ecology. The building comprises a floor space of 29,400 sqm, on a site covering 68,400 sqm. Over 1,300 personnel worldwide work in a corporate culture dedicated to total quality with a fully networked PPS system, 130 CAD and 650 PC workstations.

We have subsidiaries in the USA, Sweden, Great Britain, Brazil, Singapore, Spain, Switzerland, Spain, Russia and China and are represented in more than 40 other countries around the world, whilst Uhlmann machines are involved in pharmaceutical production worldwide.
