EMEA Investors Summit 2018

April 16-17, 2018 · Palazzo Versace Dubai

The EMEA Investors Summit 2018 was held on April 16-17 in Dubai at the Palazzo Versace Dubai. The two-day event explored timely macroeconomic issues and the environment for investors in the EMEA region, with input from policymakers across the Middle East, fund managers, and finance professionals

The first day of the summit tackled investment from all angles, with in-depth testimony on the global macro economy, as well as the insights into family offices, sovereign wealth funds, and emerging markets. Notable content focused in on the Middle East and Africa, with officials representing investment authorities in Nigeria, Abu Dhabi, and Oman, detailing infrastructure investment, market conditions, and the effects of the global economy on their respective jurisdictions. Panel discussions throughout the day brought together leading investors to shed light on important issues, including family offices in the Middle East, investment in India, asset allocation for sovereign wealth funds, and portfolio diversification for alternative investments.

Presentations early in day two addressed pension fund governance; in-depth case studies of successful pension schemes in the Netherlands and the United States highlighted ongoing reforms and new allocation models. Later coverage furthered discussion of the Indian market and family office management in the Middle East; a representative of custodian SCHIL Stockholding noted progress and ease of investment in India, and leading family offices in the Middle East covered successful business and models in that sector. The event concluded with a riveting panel discussion on optimizing yields from real estate investment. Asset managers and policymakers with expertise in offshore real estate delved into the myriad of opportunities and challenges awaiting investors, drawing attention to geographic hotspots, asset classes, and interest rates.

The EMEA Investors Summit 2018 succeeded in furthering exchange and cooperation in the global investment community. The event gathered experts from across finance with experience in vital investment sectors and geographic regions, in particular India, Africa, and the Middle East, to exchange knowledge in an interactive setting. The content was well received by attendees who noted the wide range of coverage and detailed knowledge from experienced investors. The organizing committee would like to thank all attendees, panelists, and speakers for their important roles in a successful summit, as well as acknowledge the contribution of sponsors: Mercer, 3i Infotech, SHCIL Stockholding, and Z Capital Group.
